Blizzard's weekly roundup for Oct 9 bundles the week's Forever news: the Mage/Shaman and Rogue/Warlock deep dives, the PvP progression explainer, the new Darkspear Islands battleground and podcast episode 3.
Aggrend says a dungeon XP bug is being fixed. Kill XP was based on the highest-level player in the group and will now use your own level. Together with a 20% boost to dungeon kill XP, this should put dungeon leveling close to optimal questing, but Blizzard won't let dungeon cleaving become the best way to 60.
Podcast episode 3: host Countdown To Classic and guest Hammerdance talk dungeon leveling and questing with designers Aggrend, Jay Hartman and Rowan Ryder.
Nethaera corrects the Shaman deep dive: Elemental Mastery is removed. It was holding back Elemental's PvE damage because it would have made them too strong in PvP, so they get new spells instead.
Mage talents get stronger school identities plus room for cross-school builds; Shaman totems and weapon imbues last longer and are quicker to manage mid-fight, with totem tracking and Totemic Recall.
Rogue poisons get more charges and can stack with temporary weapon enchants; Warlock Banes are split from utility Curses, and pets now scale with the Warlock's stats.
After a fix, kill XP in dungeons uses your level relative to the mobs instead of the highest-level member's, and base kill XP is up 20%. Grouping with slightly higher-level friends no longer tanks your XP.
You get your first Legacy Point, and access, when a character hits level 25, reaches 150 in a non-gathering primary profession, or explores the whole world map. Open it with the shield icon or the Y key.
Rulesets (Normal, PvP, Hardcore and others) replace realms, and Blizzard says moving between them is deliberately limited. Agree on one with your friends or guild before launch.
The beta's hottest fight: many players say the dungeon mob XP nerf kills group leveling, with some threads warning Forever will flop. Others back the nerf as a fix for boosting. Blizzard answered with a bug fix and a 20% XP boost but is keeping dungeons from beating questing.
Kotaku reported that a Blizzard developer deleted their account after asking players to be 'better humans' during the beta name-ban backlash. Many players were angry that paid beta access was revoked over character names.
A player-run tally of early forum replies claimed 59% disapproved of the Skyborne race, citing an art style that clashes with SD models and lore fit. Blizzard later announced SD Skyborne models for early 2027.
